Brendan Loughnane is adamant that he will stop fighting in PFL tournaments following Friday's World Championship event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The 2022 PFL featherweight champion will be facing Timur Khizriev in the final of this year's tournament live on DAZN, and a victory for Loughnane would see him become a two-time PFL champion.
This 2024 campaign will be Loughnane's fourth PFL tournament, and if he was to participate in 2025's regular season, he would give himself the chance to make MMA history by becoming the first ever three-time PFL champion.
However, while Loughnane said the tournament concept is one which he enjoys, he told DAZN News that pursing the Bellator title at featherweight is next.
"I’m done with tournaments after this, no matter what," Loughnane said.
"I say it every year, I’m actually done with tournaments. I’m 35 next month, I’ve been with the PFL for five years now.
"Super fights definitely, but tournaments no way.
"I’d like to fight for the Bellator belt straightaway, I’d like to beat Timur and then fight for the Bellator belt. Have three of them why not."
The current Bellator featherweight champion is Brazil's Patricio Pitbull, who made a successful defence of the title against Jeremy Kennedy in March.
