One of the biggest European MMA events ever goes down this weekend!
In a huge moment for the sport on the continent, OKTAGON 58 takes place this Saturday night, June 8, at the home of Slavia Prague – Eden Stadium. A capacity crowd of 28,000 fans will fill the venue (our first of two football stadium shows this year) for an absolutely stacked card featuring the greatest stars in the promotion.
‘The Rematch of the Century’ is a headliner fitting of such a monumental occasion and sees two of the region’s biggest sporting icons collide once again. OKTAGON MMA light heavyweight champion, Karlos Vémola (36-8), defends his belt against former Bellator king, Attila Végh (33-9-2), in a huge showdown. The Czech superstar, also known as ‘The Terminator’, and the Slovak hero have a storied history that will come to a head in Prague.
In 2019, the pair set a new attendance record of 20,000 for the territory inside O2 Arena and all of the Czech Republic & Slovakia stood still. Végh knocked out his adversary with a huge right hand just over two minutes into their contest and hasn’t competed since. Vémola has wanted an opportunity to redeem himself for the past five years and now eleven bouts later, seeks revenge in what could be the final fight of his legendary career. Anything could happen when these two start throwing down inside Eden Stadium!
Former welterweight champion, David Kozma (32-13), returns during the co-main event to take on heavy hitter, Ion Surdu (14-6), in a clash between two of the company’s most charismatic personalities. ‘Pink Panther’ has spent ten months away from competition honing his skills in order to try and reclaim the throne at the very top of the division. However, ‘Dracula’ will stand in his way and is intent on utilising his devastating striking to earn the biggest victory of his career. Who will move on to compete for the vacant belt later this year?
After months of back and forth trash talk, Shem Rock (10-1-1) and Jaroslav Pokorný (16-11) will finally settle their bitter, personal feud at lightweight in the biggest grudge match that OKTAGON MMA has ever seen. Both men come from polar opposite worlds and have been slated to fight several times but the bout never came to fruition on each occasion. This Saturday night in Eden Stadium, the Czech police officer will have 28,000 fans on his side when he throws down with the man who had been on the run from the authorities for ten years for a crime he didn’t commit.
