The UFC 309 co-main event is a lightweight scrap between former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and former Bellator champion Michael Chandler on November 16 in New York City.
Chandler had been sidelined for years waiting on a promised fight with Conor McGregor. They were slated to headline UFC 303 in June but a broken toe sidelined McGregor and forced the fight off the card. Refusing to wait any longer, Chandler accepted a fight with Oliveira.
The pair met once before when they faced off at UFC 262 in May 2021. The fight ended with Oliveira knocking out Chandler to win the vacant lightweight title.
Oliveira is looking to rebound after his split-decision loss to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300.
