Former UFC middleweight champion and current UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is building an unbeatable persona as he continues to defeat man after man in the Octagon.
He's knocked out back-to-back former champions and made it look easy. The talk now is whether there's anyone in the UFC who can give him a real challenge. Famed MMA coach Javier Mendez says there is.
"There's only one guy in the division who in my opinion can stand up with Alex and that is Israel Adesanya," Mendez told Fastest Payout Online Casino.
"I don't see any of the other guys being able to stand with Alex without being clipped other than Israel, I'm sorry, I just don't see any of these guys being able to handle Alex's stand-up, so if you're not good at taking him down and you can't get him to the ground you're not favored to win in my opinion."
Mendez's assessment is from an outside perspective, he's got no skin in the game as he doesn't coach either of the fighters.
Adesanya and Pereira have fought four times, twice in kickboxing where Pereira won both, and twice in MMA where they are 1-1. It's unclear if Pereira and Adesanya will ever meet again as they are in two different divisions now, but with MMA, you never say never.
