Conor McGregor calling out Justin Gaethje late last month and then hinting that the UFC has seemingly moved on from a McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight, seemed to place any thought of the latter bout happening in jeopardy.
However, during his “Dana White Contender Series” post-fight press conference Tuesday night, Dana White made it a point to confirm that plans for McGregor vs. Chandler are still on — despite a date for the fight not being announced just yet.
“I talked to Conor — it was either yesterday or the day before — and yeah, he’s ready to fight. I said ‘listen, get in shape and let’s figure this out,’” White began telling reporters. “Yeah, he’s fighting Chandler. Conor likes to f—k with everybody, you know what I mean? Especially his opponent or possible opponents.”
McGregor and Chandler had already filmed an entire season of “The Ultimate Fighter” as opposing coaches of mixed martial artists.
Chandler has vowed to make rather quick work of McGregor when they do fight.
