Irish featherweight Michael Conlan believes that ‘crazy’ countryman Conor McGregor will be back.
The UFC fighter McGregor lost his trilogy rematch to Dustin Poirier recently when a leg break in the opening seconds cost him any chance of a win.
However the former champion does not yet show any inclination to retire from the sport and Conlan predicts that his refusal to back down will force him back into action.
“Now he'll be back. He's crazy. He's crazy. And that's why he's back, because he's crazy,” he told the DAZN Boxing Show.
“He doesn't need to be back. But when have you ever seen a guy sit in the cage after getting his leg broken like he did?
“They restructured it on gas, keeps in the ring doing interviews with Joe Rogan. I didn't understand how he's able to do that - some kind of pain threshold he has, which must be mad, but he's a crazy, crazy human being and I definitely could see him coming back.“I think it's times like that makes him want to do it more, because he's not fighting for money anymore. He's fighting to prove people wrong. And that's why I think you'll see him back.
“Whether he's as successful as what he used to be, I don't think so. But listen, who knows?”
