The Professional Fighters's League (PFL) is already making splashes in 2023.
This week saw the organisation announce PFL Europe which will see the continent's best up and coming talents battle it out to become European champion in four different weight classes live on DAZN.
But this wasn't the only big announcement PFL, January 5 saw the company make a huge signing in the form of Jake Paul.
Known for his exploits inside the boxing, 'The Problem Child' is now looking to make an impact on MMA and PFL CEO Peter Murray is excited about what this partnership can deliver.
"Number one, the partnership with Jake Paul illustrates the capability of PFL in MMA globally," Murray said in an exclusive interview with DAZN.
"The second part of it is combining our capabilities, the PFL capabilities with Jake Paul’s capabilities. Jake as a promoter, and his platform, and his authentic voice. He is very much an advocate for combat sports and advocate for athletes.
"His views and values really line up with the PFL’s views and values to advance and grow the sport for athletes, partnering with athletes and benefitting the athletes. That’s why we’re here.
"It was a perfect combination in the partnership and authentic, and so we’re really excited and know it’s going to be a winning partnership."
Paul is on a multi-year deal with the PFL and will be a part of the organisation's pay-per-view Super Fight division where at least 50% of the PPV revenue will go to the fighters.
But the one burning question on the minds of fans is when they can expect to see Paul make his MMA debut and who he will go up against, and according to Murray, it could be sooner rather than later.
"I can’t tell you when his debut will be in MMA with the PFL, but what I can tell you is that it’s possible that it could be in 2023.
"The opponent will be a major athlete in MMA, he will take on the top athletes in MMA.
"We are excited to see that, I know fans are excited for more details and those details will be forthcoming."
