Francis Ngannou has admitted that current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is the greatest fighter in the history of martial arts.
A fight between Ngannou and Jones is a dream fight for MMA fans across the world, but there is no chance that this contest will happen anytime soon with the former preparing for his professional boxing debut against WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on October 28 in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking alongside his coach, boxing legend Mike Tyson, Ngannou explained his thinking behind naming Jones as MMA's greatest ever fighter.
“There’s so many of them I like, Jon Jones. Khabib [Nurmagomedov]," Ngannou told Complex's GOAT Talks series.
"There’s a lot of great ones coming up. New guys. I have to go with Jon Jones because of all the adversity and all he went through and he still managed to become champ.
"As long as I want to fight Jon Jones I still think he will be my GOAT MMA fighter, because he's just so good."
Jones is set to make the first defence of his UFC heavyweight title later this year when he takes on Stipe Miocic at UFC 295.
