Francis Ngannou explains why he will be ready for PFL debut after years away from MMAMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing
The former UFC heavyweight is back.

Francis Ngannou is getting ready to return to the cage after an impressive foray into the world of boxing.

Ngannou fought Tyson Fury to a split-decision defeat in a hugely surprising contest with the then WBC champion in October 2023, before facing Anthony Joshua earlier this year.

Joshua arrested Ngannou’s ascent with a brutal knockout victory, and he has now announced a return to PFL MMA.

He will face PFL heavyweight champion Renan “Problema” Ferreira (13-3, 3 NC) for the newly minted PFL Super Fights Championship Belt, live on DAZN on October 19 (excluding the US).

Speaking to Sky Sports about his return, he pointed out that the clash is a return to his roots.

"I've been doing mixed martial arts for over 10 years, so yes it's home. It's where I'm more comfortable. Where I'm used to, where I understand the most," he said.

"Rankings are made by people and yes the sport is moving.

"I'm not the one to judge, but yeah I think this fight could set as a reminder of who I am."
