After becoming the UFC middleweight champion for a second time at UFC 287 on Saturday night, Israel Adesanya is once again being hailed as one of the best to grace MMA.
Revenge could not have been any sweeter for Adesanya who knocked out Alex Pereira in Miami, five months after he suffered the same fate against the Brazilian, and now the opportunities seem endless for what could come next for Adesanya.
But one subject which is being discussed when it comes to Adesanya is whether he is the GOAT of the UFC's middleweight division and on a higher pedestal than Anderson Silva.
UFC lightweight contender Jared Gordon had his say on the debate and believes Adesanya does deserve to be mentioned in the conversation.
"Israel is definitely up there in the GOAT conversation, but he has to surpass what Anderson Silva did in order to be called the GOAT," Gordon said when speaking to Betway.
"He could move up to 205lbs and win the belt there, then you can call him the best ever, but until then, he has more work to do. ’’
