Jared Cannonier vs. Nassourdine Imavov: Keys to victory for both fightersDAZN
A middleweight fight tops UFC Louisville.

The UFC heads to Louisville, KY for a Fight Night card following UFC 302. Headlining the card is a middleweight bout between No. 4-ranked Jared Cannonier and No. 8-ranked Nassourdine Imavov. The fight doesn't have huge name value but these two ranked fighters are sure to put on a show. Here's what each of them needs to do in order to have their hands raised on Saturday night.

Jared Cannonier's keys to victory

Unleash the power

Cannonier's biggest asset is his punching power. He hasn't had a KO/TKO victory since he defeated Derek Brunson in 2022 but we know he has it in him. He needs to trust his power and let his hands go when the time is right.

Stay calm

This is a no-brainer but staying calm is a major key to victory. He can be a technical fighter when he wants to be, like when he beat Sean Strickland in 2022.If he can stay calm, he could win sheer intelligence.

Wrestle when needed

Cnnonier has impressive wrestling skills and should use them if all else fails. We don't think he'll need them if he can follow the other two keys above, but knowing he's got those skills in his back pocket, should he need them, should put everyone but Imavov at ease.

Nassourdine Imavov's keys to victory

Be accurate

If we're telling Cannonier to unleash the power, Imavov must do it too ... but better. He needs to land more and avoid getting hit. Imavov doesn't have as much UFC experience as Cannonier but he's still a dangerous man to get into the cage with.

Play by the rules

Imavov's last two UFC appearances were plagued with controversy. His fight with Chris Curtis was declared a no-contest after an accidental clash of heads rendered Curtis unable to continue. Then, in his return, he was deducted a point for an illegal soccer kick while fighting Roman Dolidze. These mistakes can't keep happening. He needs to focus and pay attention to what's happening around him.

Go for the submission

If he does get taken to the ground, Imavov needs to go for the submissions. He doesn't have a sub in the UFC yet but he has five pre-UFC. We know he has it in him, should he get stuck on the ground, take advantage.
