Jorge Masvidal fights Gilbert Burns this weekend at UFC 287 (shown on DAZN live in DACH), and has been hinting that he could soon walk away from the sport.
Looking back at some of the highlights of MMA, the 38-year-old American was asked by The DAZN MMA Show to weigh up the best trash talkers in the game, and he mentioned Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Chael Sonnen as the two that stood out for him.
He began: “Maybe not the most known, but one of my favourites, I always thought Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson was hilarious, he used to crack me up.
“I like individuals that don’t make it personal. I like trash talking but I don’t want to hear people talking about wives or kids or stuff like that. There’s a lot of trash talkers who do that but I don’t like to hype that. It’s not what the sport needs when you’re getting the s—t kicked out of each other.
“Quentin was always funny, always hilarious but let you know: ‘I want to f—k you up.’”
Masvidal then said: “Chael Sonnen wasn’t bad, he had his moments, but sometimes he was talking about people’s lives. Some parts of the world you might get shot in the face for that, so I can’t say you should be doing that.
“Then there’s people who want to press charges after talking s—t. Are you kidding me?”
