There are critics and fans alike who are picking Jake Paul to defeat Tyron Woodley in their boxing bout Sunday, Aug. 29.
Jorge Masvidal isn't one of them.
Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Masvidal predicted that Woodley is going to knock Paul out emphatically in Cleveland and that the former UFC star is a caliber of fighter that the YouTuber/boxer has never faced.
"Woodley could throw them hands. Ben Askren never could. You got a guy who could fight," said Masvidal, comparing Woodley to Askren, who Paul defeated by first-round knockout in April.
"I know that Jake has never been in there with a guy like that — that's explosive, that's a good athlete and has a ton of experience over him.
"So if Jake wins, f—ing wow. My hat's off to him, I was wrong. I don't know s— about fighting, right?
"But, chances are Woodley is gonna knock him the f— out."
Masvidal was shocked to learn from Helwani that oddsmakers have Paul slugged as the favorite, calling that "crazy as f—."
As of Thursday (Aug. 19), BetMGM has Paul the favorite at -175 and Woodley the underdog at +145.
"When I do the math, Woodley wins," Masvidal tacked on for good measure.
"As long as he did his part which was training. Just too much experience and athleticism on that side."
The 39-year-old Woodley enters the bout with a 19-7-1 record in mixed martial arts, with this being his pro boxing debut.
The 24-year-old Paul is 3-0 in the boxing ring with victories over Askren, former NBA star Nate Robinson and fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib.
