'I'm not looking past him!' - Alexander Luster squarely the focus for Lewis McGrillen-Evans at PFL Europe Championship

'I'm not looking past him!' - Alexander Luster squarely the focus for Lewis McGrillen-Evans at PFL Europe ChampionshipTanaay Shah - PFL

Lewis McGrillen-Evans is motivated purely by beating Alexander Luster and not the belt at stake ahead of his PFL Europe Bantamweight Tournament final versus the German.

The McGrizzla will square off for the title at LDLC Arena in Lyon, France on Saturday at 2024 PFL Europe Championship, with the event set to be broadcast live around the globe on DAZN.

McGrillen-Evans is looking to be crowned PFL Europe champion if he can get the better of an opponent who has a similar record to his own 10-1 professional experience.

Speaking to DAZN News ahead of his fight however, the Manchester-based fighter says he draws more motivation from simply securing the win rather than everything else at stake.

"He doesn’t bring anything I’ve not seen before," he said. "At the end of the day, I feel like even the level he is at in Germany is nowhere near the same level in the UK.

"But don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking past him – he is a threat in front of me. We’re both fighting in a highly anticipated final. There’s a hundred grand on the line and a big belt.

"I don’t look at it like that. I want him, and that’s all I think about. I want to beat him. I’m not bothered about all that. That’s what comes into play, but I just think about beating him."

The Briton also admitted that he hopes to have "three or four" bouts next year, but stresses he is not considering what shape they may take, with his focus squarely on Luster.

"The opportunities that will come will be great, but I’m not thinking about 2025," he added. "It doesn’t exist to me right now. Christmas doesn’t exist to me right now.

"I’m seeing Christmas things and switching off. I don’t want to hear Christmas music, I don’t want to think about putting up a Christmas tree, I just want to focus on December 14."
