Former Cage Warriors champion Paul Hughes is set to make his Bellator debut when he takes on Bobby King in the co-main event of the Bellator Championship Series in Dublin. Hughes is making the debut at home, in front of his family and friends.
“It means a lot to debut in Bellator in front of my country," he said during a pre-event media call.
"Especially with signing with PFL being a U.S. organization. The season is of course in the U.S. on ESPN so to have the opportunity to fight at home in front of my people before I enter that tournament is amazing. It gives me a great chance to show the people at PFL and Bellator what I bring to the table. I bring a crowd. I bring atmosphere to my fights. That’s why I have created the hype that I have. Of course, it is also my performances and skill level, but I do bring a different energy to my fights, and I am excited to have the opportunity to show that to the PFL and Bellator."
His opponent, Bobby King fights out of Utah and knows he's heading into enemy territory.
“It’s a great opportunity and I am honored to go over there in Ireland and perform," he said. "I’m excited to be there and fight at the 3Arena against one of the top prospects in the world right now. Stoked to be here and just honored. This what I do. I’m going to go out there and fight and figure it out.”
The event will air live on DAZN in select regions on Saturday, June 22, and is headlined by a welterweight title fight between reigning champion Jason Jackson and the challenger, Ramazan Kuramagomedov.
