Savannah Marshall has not ruled out competing under MMA rules after making an appearance at the recent PFL Europe debut show in Newcastle, which aired live on DAZN in many parts of the world.
A former world champion in boxing, Marshall's unbeaten run in her chosen sport came to an end last year when she was outpointed on the scorecards by her big rival, Claressa Shields.
Marshall’s return to the ring is not yet confirmed but she’s made it clear on a number of occasions that gaining revenge over Shields is a huge priority for her.
If the eagerly anticipated rematch cannot be secured inside the boxing ring, Marshall has made it clear that she would be willing to step inside the cage to face Shields, a fighter who has MMA experience.
“100%, if the price is right,” replied Marshall when asked if she would consider swapping the boxing ring for the cage at the PFL event.
“There’s still things I want to achieve in boxing and the rematch with Claressa is one of them. Whether that happens in the ring or the octagon, that’s something we’ll have to wait and see.”
