Sean O'Malley received plenty of adulation after delivering a second-round TKO of Aljamain Sterling to become the new UFC bantamweight world champion over the weekend.
But one particular message might have stood out more than the rest.
“Conor [McGregor] messaged me on Instagram for the first time yesterday,” O’Malley said on The Pat McAfee Show earlier in the week.
"He said, 'Baby we did it,' and I said, 'We sure f—ing did!'
"I said, 'You main eventing in December, I'm co-main eventing?' All he replied was, 'Shot caller.'
“I don't know what that means, but I feel like I kinda do so I'm hoping that's a yes in f—ing Irish."
Whether such top of that billing for a December mega card is a McGregor vs. Michael Chandler main event remains to be seen.
But O'Malley being slugged into the co-feature spot under McGregor would only mean a boost in star power and notoriety for the newly-crowned bantamweight champ.
