The UFC hosted its final pay-per-view of the year on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Headlining the card was a flyweight title fight between the reigning champion Alexandre Pantoja taking on former RIZIN champion Kai Asakura in his UFC debut. Pantoja repeated history by defending his title with a rear-naked choke (the eigth of his career).
"It's the level, the UFC level. You think some Japanese is going to come here and take my belt?" Pantoja said after his win. He called out Demetrious Johnson, who retired after a stint with ONE Championship. He says they need to fight to determine who the real UFC flyweight GOAT is.
Asakura was hoping to be Japan's first-ever UFC champion, but it won't happen tonight. He was making his UFC debut after dropping his RIZIN title.
In the co-main event, Shavkat Rakhmonov handed Ian Machado Garry his first loss after a five round domination.
