Glover Teixeira was a big winner not only in the Octagon, but also in the pay line Wednesday night after headlining a UFC Fight Night event in Jacksonville, Fla.
Teixeira made $230,000 for defeating Anthony Smith via fifth-round TKO, according to figures obtained Thursday by Jed I. Goodman, and he also earned a $50,000 bonus from the UFC for turning in a Performance of the Night. Counting the bonus, Teixeira more than doubled up Smith, who took home $130,000 for his troubles, which included the loss of several teeth.
The Brazilian's haul was not the largest of the night, however. Former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski picked up $325,000 for his undercard victory by unanimous decision over Luiz Philipe Lins, and heavyweight Ben Rothwell took away $260,000 for outlasting Ovince Saint Preux in the co-main event. Saint Preux made $95,000.
Drew Dober padded his bank account with the other Performance of the Night bonus that was handed out. The lightweight earned $50,000 on top of his $116,000 purse for an impressive second-round stoppage of Alexander Hernandez.
The remaining fighters picked up five-figure checks for their work. At the bottom were Hunter Azure and Isaac Villanueva at $12,000 each.
