Jon Jones is the current UFC heavyweight champion.

UFC Hall of Famer Dan Henderson claims that he would have made easy work of Jon Jones, one of MMA's greatest ever fighters, if the two ever fought.

Henderson and Jones were originally set to meet at UFC 151, however disaster struck when the former tore his medial collateral ligament (MCL) nine days before he was scheduled to step inside the cage with Jones.

Despite Chael Sonnen offering himself as a late replacement for Henderson, Jones declined the offer which resulted in the event being cancelled.

Reflecting on this incident in an intervew with ESPN, Henderson was confident that he could beat Jones before suffering the MCL injury.

"I was totally sure I would crush him. I was super prepared, not just physically but tactically too. All my sparring partners can attest to how ready I was,” Henderson said.

"In my head, I had already won. I was in prime shape, both physically and mentally, ready to bring home the win."

After dominating the light heavyweight division, Jones is now the UFC's heavyweight champion after beating Ciryl Gane in March, but he is yet to make a defence of his new title after picking up a long-term injury when preparing to face Stipe Miocic at UFC 295.
