Former featherweight champion Max Holloway imposed his pedigree Saturday night in Kansas City with a unanimous decision win over Arnold Allen at UFC on ESPN 44 to snap the Brit's winning streak.
Using his fight IQ and distance-management timing, he was able to dominate a much younger opponent who showed a lot of momentum from the start of the contest.
"This went exactly as planned, but let's give it up for Allen because he was a great opponent tonight," he said in the post-fight interview.
With the win, Holloway bounced back from a loss in his last outing to UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, to whom he has lost on three occasions.
"Blessed" Holloway improved his record to 24-7 and snapped Almighty's 12-fight winning streak.
Nearly a year since his last loss to Volkanovski, Holloway - ranked number two in the division behind interim champion Yahir Rodriguez - has begun the road back, as he revealed during the week that his goal is to regain the belt.
But first, Volkanovski is scheduled to face Mexico's Yahir Rodriguez on July 8 at the Tmobile Arena in Las Vegas.
