UFC will hold Tyron Woodley-Gilbert Burns card in Las Vegas, Dana White says

UFC will hold Tyron Woodley-Gilbert Burns card in Las Vegas, Dana White saysDAZN
Woodley, who headlines the May 30 card with Burns, has not entered the Octagon since March 2019.

Dana White is bringing the UFC back to "Sin City."

The UFC president told the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Adam Hill that the company will hold a May 30 event at its Apex Facility in Las Vegas.

"We are a go on the 30th," White said in a text message to Hill.

Tyron Woodley (19-4-1) will fight Gilbert Burns (18-3) in the headliner, his first bout since losing the welterweight championship belt to Kamaru Usman in March 2019. Burns has won his last five fights, most recently defeating Demian Maia via first-round TKO in March.

Burns confirmed the matchup on Tuesday.

Similar to the UFC's last three events held in Jacksonville, Fla., the May 30 card will not feature fans in attendance.

White had previously said he would move fights to Arizona if combat sports events were not permitted to take place in Nevada amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

"It makes more sense with what's going on for us to be doing the events at our own arena," White said in Jacksonville. "It will be a lot safer for my employees, the fighters, everyone. I hope to have fights there this month."

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has not yet commented on the UFC's return to Las Vegas.
