Two fan-favorite women headlined the UFC Vegas 89 fight card from UFC APEX and fought five rounds of action.
The two flyweights battled for very different goals when Amanda Ribas took on Rose Namajunas in the main event.
The fight was close through several rounds but Namajunas edged it on the scorecards for a respectable win.
Namajunas was looking to win her first flyweight bout since dropping her debut in September last year. The former strawweight champion was coming off back-to-back losses over Carla Esparza and Manon Fiorot.
Ribas, who is ranked in both the strawweight and flyweight divisions returned to flyweight to take on Namajunas and was looking for a big win over a former champion to solidify herself on the climb toward a title shot. It's unclear if she will want to stay at flyweight or go back to strawweight and make a run for that title instead.
Namajunas called out Erin Blachfield or Maycee Barber for her next fight now that she will likely be a ranked flyweight after the win.
