Alex Palou holds off Alexander Rossi to clinch IndyCar Grand Prix of Portland

Alex Palou weathered first-corner adversity and sealed victory at the Portland Grand Prix to move back atop the driver's IndyCar standings on Sunday at the Portland International Raceway.

Palou was able to hold off the pressure of Alexander Rossi on the final pair of restarts, which were caused by spin and stalls from Simon Pagenaud and Oliver Askew.

Palou's fellow Chip Ganassi Racing driver Scott Dixon rounded out the podium with a third-placed finish.

Just two more races remain on the 2021 schedule, as Palou looks to hold on to top spot.

On Sunday Sept. 19, the penultimate event takes place in Monterey before the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach concludes things on Sept. 26.
