Could a big fight be next for one former world champion?

Joe Cordina lost his world title at super-featherweight earlier this year, but could he still be heading into a big fight against Shakur Stevenson?

The Welshman was stopped by Anthony Cacace in a tough bout, and it was confirmed his future would be at lightweight.

In his first fight at 135lbs, Cordina could be facing a huge test against one of the sport’s best fighters.

The Newark native has been linked to numerous high-profile fights against the likes of Gervonta Davis and William Zepeda, but Eddie Hearn has provided some news on what could come next.

“I’ve spoken to Joe about fighting Shakur Stevenson. Joe is up for it, but he also understands the challenge,” said Hearn when speaking to Boxing News

“Ideally, moving up a weight division, you’d probably want an easier fight than Shakur Stevenson, but Joe is at the age where he wants to be involved in the biggest fights in the sport.

“If he feels the opportunity is right, I’m sure he’ll take it. But nothing close yet.”
