Former England striker Alan Shearer says Arsenal are a "top striker" away from winning the Premier League.
Arsenal were beaten to the title on the final game of last season by Manchester City, who finished two points above the Gunners at the summit.
Mikel Arteta has brought in defender Riccardo Calafiori to add strength in depth at the back, but it is at the other end of the pitch that Shearer says they must improve if they are to beat City.
In his latest column for BBC Sport, Shearer said: "If Arsenal sign a top striker then I would back them to go on and win the league.
"When Mikel Arteta's side went so close last season, they had the best defence in the top flight, conceding only 29 goals in 38 games
"It is up front which I feel is the one position they can improve and maybe get that crucial extra edge that means they finish first, not second.
"Clearly they are not far away from being a title-winning team and they definitely have the quality already, but if there is one thing they are missing to become champions, it is a goalscorer."
Arsenal begin their Premier League title challenge at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
