Yet, the campaign has already seen some notable performances away from the 'big six', with two teams in particular impressing former Scotland striker Ally McCoist.
Talking to talkSPORT BET, McCoist praised the work of both Brighton under their new boss, and Nottingham Forest.
“I have been really impressed by Brighton; I have really enjoyed them so far,” he said.
“They continue to be the best team in the league at identifying talent and bringing them in at a good price, Fabian Hurzeler is another example of this, he will be a top manager in years to come. I’ve been really impressed with what Hurzeler has done so far.
"For once Brighton have dipped into the transfer market and made some very shrewd signings. They’ve done a wonderful job of selling and buying players at the right price over the years. They’re a very solid team with quality throughout. Players like Kaoru Mitoma and Joao Pedro would start for top six sides. I'm very impressed."

McCoist also noted Nottingham Forest as the other team who have caught his eye this season:
“Nottingham Forest are another of the teams that have impressed me most this season,” he added. “They’ve picked up some brilliant results this season, including that win at Anfield. They’re beginning to look like a comfortable top-flight team. That should be their immediate aim.”
