Marc Guehi would be a "great" signing for Newcastle United, says Andy Cole.
The Magpies are reportedly closing in on a deal to acquire Guehi from Crystal Palace after the defender turned heads for England at Euro 2024.
Newcastle have reportedly had their first bid rejected for the 24-year-old, but an increased offer is expected as both clubs appear keen to come to an agreement.
Should the deal happen, former Newcastle striker Cole believes Guehi would be a good addition to his old side.
“I believe he’s more than capable of playing for any of the top teams in the Premier League," Cole told Betfred of Guehi.
"I’m not just talking about what people saw of him at the Euros because when I’ve watched him for Crystal Palace, and when he was on loan at Swansea City from Chelsea, you could see that he had something and he’s proved that now.
"If Newcastle got him, then that would be a fantastic coup. Newcastle have found themselves in this crazy situation where they’ve hardly spent any money but they’re still a bit dictated by FFP, but if they got Marc, then that would be great."
