Alex Ferguson is the Premier League’s greatest ever manager with Pep Guardiola just behind him.
That’s the verdict of Ray Parlour, an Arsenal hero who won three Premier League titles under Arsene Wenger including the 2004 version where Arsenal went the entire season unbeaten.
Since walking away from the Manchestwr United job in 2013, Ferguson has had to watch many successors fail to emulate the glory he tasted at Old Trafford.
Collecting trophies home and abroad became a habit for Ferguson and although Guardiola appears to be creating a similar legacy at Manchester City, Parlour still has the Scotsman out in front.
“I can't look past Sir Alex as the best Premier League manager, though, as trophies are the thing to go by,” said Parlour when speaking to Lord Ping.
“He was there for a long longer, though, and if Pep stays for another five, six, or seven years, he would probably be number one. For me, Sir Alex is still number one. Pep would be a close second”
