The Portuguese coach was sacked by Roma this week.

Former Premier League defender Ashley Williams has tipped Jose Mourinho to become the England manager at some point in his career.

The Portuguese boss was sacked by Italian side Roma this week, following a frustrating period in charge where the club won just one game in their last six and suffered a defeat to rivals Lazio - a game that saw Mourinho sent off.

Since his dismissal, the 60-year-old has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, but speaking on the Five Podcast, Williams believes he'd make a good England manager.

"Now you say it, that could be the most likely option - I think he's got an eye on it," the ex-Everton man said during a discussion on Mourinho's next move.

"What I think he would manage brilliantly would be the media and all that comes with England. Every time England go to a tournament, it's the same, but he would manipulate that to wherever he wanted it to go. He'd be a great fit."

In his two-and-half-year spell in charge of Roma, Mourinho took the club to two European finals, winning the inaugural Europa Conference League in 2022.
