Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has announced his retirement from football due to a heart condition.
The 33-year-old Argentine striker had joined Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer but made just five appearances for the La Liga team before he was forced to stop playing.
He was taken to hospital on 30 October after having ‘chest discomfort’ in a game against Alaves.
Over the course of his career he scored 427 goals in 786 games and was regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation.
He began his career in Independiente in his home country before switching to Atletico Madrid.
He won the Europa League with the Spanish side in 2010 and then moved to Manchester City for £38 million.
He scored the winning goal against QPR in their famous first Premier League trophy winning season, and added four more Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and six League Cups.
He joined Barcelona on a free transfer after his contract at the Etihad expired, scoring 260 goals in 390 games.
