The Argentine playmaker suffered the injury early in PSG's match over the weekend.

Angel Di Maria will miss several matches with a thigh injury — including Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League round of 16 first leg against Barcelona — the club announced Tuesday.

The 32-year-old exited PSG's match against Marseille on Saturday in the 11th minute nursing his right leg.

"[M]edical examinations confirmed a lesion to the right thigh, a further evaluation will be carried out within the next week in order to have greater precision," the club's statement read.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino later ruled Di Maria out of the Barcelona clash, set to take place Feb. 16 at Camp Nou. Pochettino doesn't foresee altering his plans too much despite Di Maria's absence, however.

"Not having Angel doesn't give us any reason to vary or move away from our main tactics. The best solution will undoubtedly be found," the coach said.

"We will move forward, day by day, with respect to the decisions that we are going to make. It's not a question of choice number one or choice number two. You have to find the best combinations, the best moves in relation to the opponent. We have to find the best game plan for each game."

Before heading to Barcelona, PSG also has a French Cup fixture against Caen on Wednesday and a league match against Nice on Saturday.
