Bayer Leverkusen's dream season continued Friday with a new record.
The Bundesliga leaders defeated Mainz 2-1 on goals by Granit Xhaka and Robert Andrich, pushing them 11 points clear of second-place Bayern Munich in the title race.
While the widening gap is impressive for Xabi Alonso's men, the new milestone that they reached could be even more formidable. Friday's result means that Leverkusen are now unbeaten in 33 matches across all competitions, setting a new German record.
To add insult to injury for Bayern, the Rekordmeister held the previous mark.
With just 11 games left to play, the Bundesliga is Leverkusen's to lose. Should they hold on for the title, it would be their first in club history.
