Bees on top as Gateshead and Oldham record big wins - this weekend's National League round-upDAZN

The National League was back to a full complement of fixtures this weekend following cup exploits, and the promotion race remains as tight as ever at the top of the league.

Barnet and Forest Green Rovers both continued their unbeaten runs, while the chasing pack behind them are closing in after some notable victories on Matchday 22.

DAZN News round-ups of the big stories across the National League this weekend.

Bees top the lot

Barnet lead the way as we approach the halfway point of the season, as they might light work of sorry Ebbsfleet.

The Bees were 4-0 up just after the half-hour mark as they cruised to victory over the league's bottom-placed side - who have only won once all campaign.

Dean Brennan's team now have a two-point advantage over York City and Forest Green Rovers at the top of the table, after Rovers saw off Boston United with a 1-0 win in Saturday's live game on DAZN.

York robbed by FA Cup heroes

York were robbed of their place on top of the division thanks to a late blow against FA Cup heroes Tamworth.

City led thanks to Ollie Pearce's 17th-minute strike and looked to be heading back to the summit of the National League until Jordan Thomas Cullinane-Liburd's 90th-minute equaliser.

The goal robbed York of two vital points but was a huge boost to Tamworth, who may have a big FA Cup fixture to look forward versus Tottenham to but have struggled for consistency in the league this season.

Oldham and Gateshead come to play

Four points further back in the league are both Gateshead and then Oldham (a further point), and they both could end up having a big say in the promotion race.

Between them they have only lost one game in their last five outings and showed off their credentials with impressive wins this weekend.

Carl Magnay's Gateshead blew away Woking with a 4-0 win, with Luke Hannant netting two spot kicks inside the first 30 minutes. Oldham meanwhile came from 2-0 down to beat Wealdstone, with Karl Mike Fondop-Talum scoring the winner ten minutes from time.
