Mikael Silvestre says Manchester United should hold on to Marcus Rashford.

Silvestre is a former United player who enjoyed plenty of success at Old Trafford, having won four Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and the Champions League during his decade at the club.

The retired former France international was a mainstay under Sir Alex Ferguson, yet his tenure with the Red Devils pales in comparison to that of Rashford, who was born in Manchester and joined the club nearly 20 years ago as an academy player.

With all of that history at United behind him, Rashford is synonymous with the club, which is why a potential transfer is such a big deal. However, Rashford may be looking for a fresh start after a tumultuous season in which he scored just seven Premier League goals and saw his playing time diminish under manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite this, Silvestre isn't convinced that it would be in United's best interests to let Rashford leave. This is a player who scored 30 goals just two seasons ago, after all.

"Letting Rashford go would not be the right decision because you need to go in the market and find someone better than Marcus, if that's the case," Silvestre told bettingexpert.com

"If you find that player he will be very expensive.

"Marcus is a senior, experienced Mancunian from the academy. I think he wants to stay. The manager likes him.

"I just hope Marcus bounces back this season.”
