The post-Graham Potter era begins on Tuesday for Chelsea as they host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
Both sides are coming off losses in league play on Saturday, with the Blues' 2-0 defeat to visiting Aston Villa the final straw for Potter's reign on the sidelines. Chelsea are now in the lower half of the table as they sit in 11th place, and interim manager Bruno Saltor has been tasked with steadying the ship while a permanent replacement is found.
As for Liverpool, they've lost back-to-back Premier League matches, including a humbling 4-1 defeat to Manchester City over the weekend. The Reds are only slightly better off than their opponents as they sit eighth in the standings and well off the pace for Champions League football next season. Manager Jurgen Klopp expects a response from Chelsea after the London club's coaching change.
"Maybe [it will have] the normal impact after a manager leaves," Klopp said. "I am pretty sure Chelsea, the players, want to show a reaction, whatever, it always is. When you saw the Bayern [Munich] game against [Borussia] Dortmund [following Bayern's recent sacking of Julian Nagelsmann and subsequent hiring of Thomas Tuchel], there was a reaction for whatever reason. That's it."
