Chelsea host Newcastle in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday, and it will be the second time the teams have met in under a month.
On Nov. 25, Newcastle ran out 4-1 winners as they dominated the visiting Blues at St James' Park in a Premier League clash, and now the London side will get to play on home soil and look to exact some revenge.
First and foremost, both teams are looking to advance to the semi-finals of the competition, and a former Chelsea defender backs his old club to earn a hard-fought victory.
"It’s always important to qualify for the next round of the cup," Gallas told Lord Ping. "Chelsea are playing at home and normally they should qualify, but don’t forget Newcastle didn’t qualify for the Champions League so they will try to go far in the different competitions.
"Newcastle will put their best XI on the field and we know they can give a lot of problems to their opponents.
"I will put Chelsea to win as they are playing at home, but I’m always disappointed when I predict Chelsea!
"It will be tight, that’s for sure, so I will go 2-1 to Chelsea."
