Cristiano Ronaldo gives harsh opinion on the MLS following Lionel Messi transferDAZN

Al Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that the Saudi Pro League is 'better' than the MLS after Lionel Messi's transfer to Inter Miami was made official this past weekend.

Ronaldo was speaking to the media after his side got beat 5-0 by Celta Vigo in a preseason friendly and believes that more of the world's best players will decide to join clubs in Saudi Arabia.

“The Saudi league is better than MLS,” Ronaldo began.

"Now all the players are coming here.

“In one year, more top players will come to Saudi Arabia.

“I opened the way to the Saudi league, and now all the players are coming here.”

Following Ronaldo's move to Al Nassr in January, a number of high-profile names including Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante have made the move, and while the Portuguese forward is currently on a two-and-a-half-year contract at Al Nassr, he does not see himself moving back to Europe before retirement.

"I’m 100% sure I won’t return to any European club. I’m 38 years old,” Ronaldo continued.

“European football has lost a lot of quality. The only valid one and still doing good is the (English) Premier League. They’re way ahead of all the other leagues.”
