Gary Pallister knows a thing or two about achieving glory at Manchester United as a dominant centre back.
The English defender was a vital part of Alex Ferguson’s early successes at Old Trafford, and he’s recently had his say on two of the club’s finest defenders in Jaap Stam and Rio Ferdinand.
The iconic pair are correctly identified as two of the Premier League’s finest players and the debate is split on who was better for Manchester United.
The Dutch star helped United to their famous treble in 1999 and Ferdinand also contributed massively when United won another European Cup nine years later. Pallister has spoken highly of both players.
“He [Stam] was an incredible defender,” said Pallister when speaking to DAZN courtesy of 888Sport.
“Strong, abrasive, a real rock at the centre of that defence.”
Pallister was equally complimentary about Ferdinand, “A classy centre back and very different from Nemanja [Vidic.] It’s very hard to pick just one.”
