For Dwight Yorke, the Ballon d'Or race is between two players.
The former Manchester United star believes the next winner will be either Jude Bellingham or Kylian Mbappé, with both players having led their respective clubs to success this season.
Bellingham's had a breakout year in his first campaign at Real Madrid, while Mbappé is once again the focal point for Paris Saint-Germain and leads Ligue 1 in scoring.
Yorke believes that Mbappé currently has the inside track for the coveted honour, but feels that Bellingham could put himself in front with a successful Champions League campaign.
"You can't overlook Jude Bellingham as one of the favourites to win the Ballon d'Or," Yorke told Crypto Casino LTD. "If he wins the Champions League and continues to score lots of goals, then yeah I can see him winning it.
"But Kylian Mbappé is ahead of him at the moment, he may not win the major competitions but his quality is out of this world."
Yorke added that the Champions League could become the deciding factor for both men and that this summer's Euro 2024 tournament could also contribute to each player's standing.
“If PSG and Real Madrid meet in the Champions League final, and one of them wins the game for their club, that player will most likely win the Ballon d'Or," Yorke said.
"We also have to think about the Euros, the next few months will really tell you who deserves it."
