Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender has suggested Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho could succeed under Mikel Arteta next season.
Sancho is on loan at Borussia Dortmund, and looks set for a Champions League final appearance after returning to Germany in the winter.
The winger endured an underwhelming time at Old Trafford and a falling out with Erik ten Hag saw him banished from the first team.
It seems unlikely that he will start next season at United regardless of who is in charge of the team, with Jim Ratcliffe reportedly considering a replacement manager.
However, speaking to Grosvenor Sport, Petit put forward the idea that instead of extending his time with Dortmund, he could instead switch to Arsenal.
He said: “I was saying how impressed I was with Jadon Sancho in the Champions League on commentary - he looks like a new player, so fit, thin and explosive.
“He’s like dynamite on the pitch, so explosive on the ball with [Karim] Adeyemi on the left flank - so hard to catch.
“He’s back to his best and Man United look so far away from them, so if Arsenal want him, why not? You can put the best player in the world at Man United at the moment and they’d look average in two months.”
