The two nations meet in Group A of the competition.

The 2024 European Championship gets underway this evening, starting with Group A's match between hosts Germany and Scotland.

The two sides are joined in Group A by Hungary and Switzerland - who play on Saturday - and one Hungary player has been assessing the challenge that the group poses.

Hungary goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, who started his career at Liverpool, has described Scotland as "an unpleasant opponent", and one they will face on 23 June in Stuttgart.

Speaking to the media ahead of their game against Switzerland, the now RB Leipzig shot stopper gave his views on the group.

"Scotland are a very unpleasant opponent, physically strong, and many of their players come from the Premier League," said Gulacsi.

This is the second time in a row that they have qualified for a major tournament. So it's not an easy group.

"But we have our strengths and have celebrated many great successes in recent times. I think the little things will make the difference.

"Our goal is to get through the group. I don't think that's unrealistic, but of course it won't be easy."
