Retired Brazil international Dante still has faith that Antony will come good for Manchester United.
Outside of some isolated moments, Antony has failed make a big impression at Old Trafford since joining the club two years ago, and the 24-year-old found himself on the bench throughout United's 1-0 victory over Fulham to open their Premier League season last weekend.
That followed a Community Shield match a week earlier in which Antony was also left on the sidelines by manager Erik ten Hag, meaning the Brazilian is still awaiting his 2024-25 season debut.
Regardless, former Bayern Munich defender Dante believes his younger countryman still has the ability to fulfill his potential at his current side, but it'll take some work on Antony's part.
“When he moved to Manchester United, I was honestly optimistic that he would make it there," Dante told wetbasis.com. "But he failed because of a lot of competition, and he didn't come at the best time either, because there has been a lot of unrest there for a few years.
"Now he doesn't seem to have the best cards under Erik ten Hag [90 minutes on the bench in the opening match against Fulham], but he has to persevere and show everyone what he's got. He has the potential, without a doubt."
