Chelsea's former Premier League-winning defender William Gallas has warned his old side not to make any more new signings this season. Chelsea splurged on many new players in the summer as Todd Boehly sanctioned another big round of spending.
So far, the results have been inconsistent. Chelsea have played well sometimes, but inconsistency and a lack of goals have hurt Mauricio Pochettino's team.
With January looming, Chelsea have again been linked with a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Osimhen scored 26 goals, firing Napoli to a famous Serie A title win. The Nigerian striker is one of the best strikers in Europe, and a move to England could be on the cards.
However, former Chelsea defender William Gallas provided his opinion on Chelsea's striker situation. Speaking to LordPing, Gallas said, "Victor Osimhen joining Chelsea would harm the confidence of players like Nicolas Jackson." Jackson bagged a hat-trick last Monday night and is currently the first-choice forward at Stamford Bridge.
Gallas continued, "I think Chelsea should finish the season with Jackson and see how many goals he gets. We also need to see how he improves. He has the quality to do so. Chelsea need to let Jackson get to work."
"Scoring goals will always boost the confidence of a striker, and Jackson's hat-trick against Tottenham will definitely boost him."
Gallas also gave his overall opinion on Chelsea's squad and what they should do going forward. He said, "I think Chelsea should stick with the squad they have. They've bought so many players, and the squad needs to get to know each other."
