Germany's top flight returns for another season, with matches now aired live on DAZN in Canada.
With the schedule having been released recently, here are five of the bigger games on the horizon. (Please note that the schedule is subject to change.)
Werder Bremen vs. Bayern Munich: Aug. 18, 2023
The opening match of the new campaign is always a big one, and the fact that 11-time defending champions Bayern Munich are involved gives this game an added sense of importance.
Bayern won last's season's title by the narrowest of margins, so they'll be eager to pick up three points in the opener against a challenging Werder Bremen side.
VfL Wolfsburg vs. 1. FC Heidenheim: Aug. 19, 2023
1. FC Heidenheim's meteoric rise up the German pyramid hits a new crescendo as the club will play its first-ever Bundesliga match on opening weekend.
Heidenheim started the 21st century in the seventh division, and are now in the top flight following a steady climb that included winning the 2. Bundesliga title last year.
SV Darmstadt 98 vs. Union Berlin: Aug. 26, 2023
The other team to gain promotion into the Bundesliga for the 2023-24 season, SV Darmstadt 98 will host its first top flight match after six years in the second division.
Darmstadt's first home fixture is a tough one as Champions League club Union Berlin will be the visitors.
Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich: Nov. 4, 2023
Der Klassiker's first Bundesliga fixture of the new campaign is scheduled for early November at Signal Iduna Park.
These teams were neck and neck at the end of the last season, with Bayern winning the league on a tiebreaker, so any victor here would likely have an early leg up in the title race.
Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund: Mar. 30, 2024
The weight of Der Klassiker is such that it makes sense to have both fixtures on this list.
Given how late in the season this match comes, it could have a massive impact on who wins the league.
