Mikael Silvestre is a fan of two potential transfer moves his old club Arsenal have been linked to.
The Gunners are rumored to be interested in acquiring Leroy Sane and Mikel Merino as the North London club look to shore up for another title challenge in the upcoming campaign.
With both players being 28 years old, Sane and Merino would be expected to have an immediate impact should they join Mikel Arteta's side, and former Gunner Silvestre believes both would be upgrades to the squad.
“Sane will bring quality and competition for [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Bukayo] Saka," Silvestre told Bettingexpert.com.
"They have a lot of competitions this season so they need quality to close the gap. He’s a quality player.”
As for Real Sociedad midfielder Merino, Sivestre said: “Mikel Merino is another profile that would suit Arsenal and the style of play.
"There’s room in the midfield but the places are tough to get with [Martin] Ødegaard, [Declan] Rice, Jorginho, [Kai] Havertz and [Thomas] Partey so it’s not easy but they need competition to close the gap [with Manchester City].”
