Former Chelsea defender not worried if Stamford Bridge star leaves this summer

He has been underwhelmed.

William Gallas would not be concerned if Chelsea sold Raheem Sterling this season.

The former Manchester City and Liverpool forward arrived to great fanfare, but he has struggled to find a consistent place in the side as an effective forward.

His poor form also led to him losing his spot in England’s national team under Gareth Southgate, and with Pedro Neto signed, Victor Osimhen a target, and the emergence of Cole Palmer, there is plenty of competition for a starting role at Stamford Bridge under new manager Enzo Marseca.

Speaking to Genting Casino, former Chelsea defender Gallas said it would be no big loss if Sterling was moved on.

He said: “To be honest, I don’t think it would be a disaster if Raheem Sterling was sold this summer. I think if he was to look at his performances and was honest with himself, he would admit that he hasn’t delivered the type of performances for Chelsea that everyone expected from him.

“He was such a dangerous player for Liverpool and Manchester City.

“That is not the version of Sterling that Chelsea bought when they signed him two years ago. I had high hopes for him at the club.

“I thought he would score a lot of goals and create a lot of assists, but he hasn’t delivered.”
