William Gallas believes that Arsenal should go ahead with the transfer of Riccardo Calafiori.
The 22-year-old Italian impressed with Bologna last season and has been linked with a high-profile move within Serie A, and abroad.
Arsenal and Chelsea - two clubs Gallas has turned out for - have been linked with a move for the young defender, with Mikel Arteta’s men needing to improve to finally win another Premier League title, and Chelsea undergoing another summer rebuild.
Speaking to Lord Ping , Gallas thinks that Calafiori is well suited to a switch to the Emirates.
He said: “Still only 22, Riccardo Calafiori has shown a lot of quality and I think Arsenal would be a very good match for him.
“The only issue would be giving him time to adapt to the Premier League and give him a chance to get a run of games in the starting XI.
“He’s still young and he still needs to improve his game, he doesn’t quite have that experience yet. At that age you need to play alongside a player like Thiago Silva but if it’s William Saliba and Gabriel, you can still learn so much from them.”
