Chelsea hero Gus Poyet has heaped praise on Cole Palmer after the forward's impressive first season at the club.
Palmer arrived from Manchester City in a £40 million deal last summer, and has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign. The 22-year-old has scored 24 goals in all competitions for the Blues and forced his way into Gareth Southgate's plans for Euro 2024.
Speaking exclusively to DAZN courtesy of Freebets, Poyet expressed how impressed he'd been with Palmer's impact at Stamford Bridge.
"Yes - the best and biggest surprise," he said.
"I knew and we all knew he was a good player, we saw what he did at Manchester City. But I have to be honest, I had no idea he was so good.
"The quality, the calmness, the ability, how able he is to maintain a performance, be so influential. It's amazing. He's been the most positive aspect of Chelsea's season without a doubt."
Poyet also believes the club should back boss Mauricio Pochettino, and when asked if the Argentine will stay at the club this summer, he said: " Yeah 100%, I've said it a long time ago, they need to stick with him."
