Jadon Sancho can continue to show his "class" for Chelsea under the right circumstances, says Joe Cole.

Sancho joined the Blues from Manchester United on a season-long loan last month, following his half-season loan to Borussia Dortmund last season. The 24-year-old's time at Old Trafford is likely up as Chelsea have an obligation to buy should they finish in the top 14 in the Premier League table, meaning Sancho's long-term future is tied to the London club.

Cole believes this could be a good thing for Sancho, who has yet to show the same form in England as he did during his two stints in Dortmund, but he advises Chelsea to handle the player with a gentle touch.

“There’s a quality player in Jadon Sancho, but he needs to start showing it and maybe he is the one to step up on the left wing for Chelsea," Cole told Paddy Power

"When he came off the bench against Bournemouth [on Sept. 14], I thought he handled the ball so well and he looked class, but what he needs is someone to put their arm around him and he needs to be somewhere where he’s loved, and I hope that can be Chelsea.

“He was a Chelsea supporter as a child, he used to come and watch at Stamford Bridge, so now that he’s back home in South-West London, you’re hoping that this will factor in for him because he needs to settle in England.

“Against Bournemouth, there were some touches on the ball, and he just showed his class, so I’m hoping he can continue that and kick on as a Chelsea player this season.”
